A Vehicle Routing Problem with Inventory in a Hybrid Uncertain Environment
author
Abstract:
Manufacturers, who re-supply a large number of customers, continually struggle with the question of how to formulate a replenishment strategy. The purpose of this paper is to determine the optimal set of routes for a group of vehicles in the transportation network under defined constraints – which is known as the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) – delivering new items, and resolving the inventory control decision problem simultaneously since the regular VRP does not. Both the vehicle routing decision for delivery and the inventory control decision affect each other and must be considered together. Hence, a mathematical model of vehicle routing problem with inventory is proposed whose demands are assumed to be hybrid variables (HVRPI) in which fuzziness and randomness are considered together. Then, the problem is transformed into its equivalent deterministic form and presented as a multi-objective mixed integer nonlinear programming. Since finding the optimal solution(s) for HVRPI is a NP-hard, a solution algorithm is presented composed of the constrained Nelder–Mead method and a Tabu search algorithm for the vehicle routing to solve the complex problem. The usefulness of the model is validated by experimental results. The findings indicate that the proposed model can provide a practical tool to significantly reduce the logistic cost. A HYBRID ALGORITHM FOR THE OPEN VEHICLE ROUTING PROBLEM
The open vehicle routing problem (OVRP) is a variance of the vehicle routing problem (VRP) that has a unique character which is its open path form. This means that the vehicles are not required to return to the depot after completing service. Because this problem belongs to the NP-hard problems, many metaheuristic approaches like the ant colony optimization (ACO) have been used to solve OVRP in...
full textA Hybrid Metaheuristic Algorithm for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Delivery Time Cost
This paper addresses the Vehicle Routing Problem with Delivery Time Cost. This problem aims to find a set of routes of minimal total costs including the travelling cost and delivery time cost, starting and ending at the depot, in such a way that each customer is visited by one vehicle given the capacity of the vehicle to satisfy a specific demand. In this research, a hybrid metaheuristic approa...
full textA green vehicle routing problem with customer satisfaction criteria
This paper develops an MILP model, named Satisfactory-Green Vehicle Routing Problem. It consists of routing a heterogeneous fleet of vehicles in order to serve a set of customers within predefined time windows. In this model in addition to the traditional objective of the VRP, both the pollution and customers’ satisfaction have been taken into account. Meanwhile, the introduced model prepares a...
full textA Two-Phase Hybrid Heuristic Method for a Multi-Depot Inventory-Routing Problem
In this study, a two phase hybrid heuristic approach was proposed to solve the multi-depot multi-vehicle inventory routing problem (MDMVIRP). Inventory routing problem (IRP) is one of the major issues in the supply chain networks that arise in the context of vendor managed systems (VMI) The MDMVIRP combines inventory management and routing decision. We are given on input a fleet of homogeneous ...
full textA Hybrid Dynamic Programming for Inventory Routing Problem in Collaborative Reverse Supply Chains
Inventory routing problems arise as simultaneous decisions in inventory and routing optimization. In the present study, vendor managed inventory is proposed as a collaborative model for reverse supply chains and the optimization problem is modeled in terms of an inventory routing problem. The studied reverse supply chains include several return generators and recovery centers and one collection...
full textA hybrid grouping genetic algorithm for the inventory routing problem with multi-tours of the vehicle
In this paper we analyze the inventory routing model as described recently by Aghezaff et al. in which the work of each vehicle can be organized in multi-tours: a vehicle comes back to the depot after the delivery of some-sales points and before visiting other sales-points. We propose a grouping genetic algorithm with a specific crossover operator adapted to this model; this algorithm is hybrid...
